For Angelique Kerber, the US Open is over.

The 32-year-old three-time major winner lost to 28th American Jennifer Brady 1: 6, 4: 6 in the round of 16.

After her previous three matches in New York, Kerber had definitely played her way into the circle of title candidates.

However, she quickly came under pressure against the strong Brady and lost the first set after 22 minutes.

25-year-old Brady also played dominantly in the second set.

With a score of 2: 3, Kerber had another chance to readjust when Brady had his thigh treated.

But the American didn’t let that bother her and with the second match ball she made it to the quarter-finals after 1:28 hours.

Kerber thus missed the quarter-finals of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time since her Wimbledon victory in 2018.
