Tour de France: Mark Hirsch won the 12th section Israel today

The Swiss crossed the longest section in the race in a time of 5: 08.49 (218 km) • Guy Niv finished in 154th place out of 160

Mark Hirsch, 22, of the Sun Web team, won the 12th round of the Tour de France, which was also the longest of the season in a time of 5: 08.49 hours.

The section that stretched over 218 km from Saboni to Saran ended with celebrations of the Swiss, who marked the first victory of his career in the Grand Tour. And which section he chose for this moment.

Julian Alafilip who lost the chance to battle for the overall victory still gave a heroic performance.

For the last few miles he chased after Hirsch, but only a technical glitch on the bike prevented him from seriously threatening victory in the prestigious section and he finished outside the top ten.

Nils Politt, the German rider of Israel Start-up Nation was involved in the escape group, but was captured by the platoon after 170 km.

Guy Niv finished 25 minutes behind the Hirsch winner, finishing 154th out of 160 riders left in the race.

Andrei Greifel, Sun's German, finished 2 places below him.

Primoz 'Ruglich continues to lead in the overall standings and holds a gap of 21 seconds from the Bernal Basin, last year's winner in the column. 

Tomorrow (12:45, Eurosport) the 13th section (191.5 km) will be held from the Mary Cantal map to Shuttle Guy and it will include 2 categories in category 1 (Cole de Sisat 10.2 km on a 6.1 percent incline; the final section in the Pyrrole Pass 5.4 Km on an 8.1 percent incline).

On Saturday (14:00, Eurosport) the column will reach the city of Lyon from where they set out for the 14th section (194 km).
