Hertha BSC was eliminated from the DFB Cup in the first round.
Against the second division promoted Eintracht Braunschweig, Berlin lost 4: 5 (2: 3).
Dodi Lukébakio (23rd and 83rd minute), Matheus Cunha (29th) and Peter Pekarik (65th) scored for Hertha, Martin Kobylanski (2nd, 44th and 66th), the Hertha professional Maximilian, scored the Braunschweig goals Mittelstädt with an own goal (17th) and Suleiman Abdullahi (73rd).
It took only 63 seconds for the outsider to take the lead against Hertha BSC.
Kobylanski, the Eintracht top scorer last season, took a free kick from around 20 meters from a central position and took it flat.
With a lot of force and a touchdown shortly before the goal, the shot in the left corner for Hertha goalkeeper Alexander Schwolow could not be held (2nd minute).
After a corner kick in the 14th minute, the ball landed at Matthew Leckie's feet, who would have equalized, but a Brunswick foot was still in between.
Instead, the hosts increased to 2-0, with luck after a corner.
Jannis Nikolaou prevailed in the air, his header ricocheted off Mittelstädts skull and into the goal (17th).
But Hertha came back quickly: The connection goal also fell after a corner kick.
Matheus Cunha crossed the ball into the penalty area, where no Braunschweig player could prevent Lukébakios 1: 2 with a head (23).
Just six minutes later, Cunha equalized from the left wing.
After a through pass from Leckie, the Brazilian finished from an acute angle with the right inside in the long corner (29th).
Again and again Kobylanski
The Berlin team fell back again before half-time because Yassin Ben Balla was unfairly brought down by Karim Rekik in the penalty area.
Schwolow initially held the due penalty from Kobylanski, but the Eintracht captain was first on the ball and grabbed the rebound over the line (44th).
In the second half, Hertha came very close to 3: 3 several times, but Leckie failed because of Eintracht keeper Jasmin Fejzic (58th) and Matheus
Cunha on the post (58th).
Only when Matheus Cunha played sharply in front of the goal after a successful dribble in the penalty area, Peter Pekarik slid the ball into the goal in the middle (65th).
But again it was Kobylanski who brought Braunschweig forward again: After preparatory work by Kaufmann, the 26-year-old scored the 4: 3 (67th) with a direct shot.
Abdullahi increased with his shot to 5: 3 (73.).
But Hertha came again.
But the favorite didn't succeed more than the connection goal to make it 4: 5 by Lukébakio.
