It has been a difficult week for Atlético de Madrid due to the coronavirus.

After this Friday the team had to cancel the concentration in Los Angeles de San Rafael after confirming the positive of an assistant of the coaching staff, his coach has tested positive for covid-19 this Saturday.

The technician underwent a PCR just like the rest of the team as soon as he returned to Madrid.

He has no symptoms, according to the club, and is isolated at his home to keep the corresponding quarantine.

Training for the squad resumed this Saturday at Cerro del Espino, but the coach has been absent from the afternoon session when the results were known.

The mandatory confinement (10 days for asymptomatic patients from the day the test was taken) does not put at risk the presence of the Argentine coach in the debut of Atlético de Madrid in LaLiga on September 27 (against Granada in the Wanda Metropolitano).

Until Simeone ends the isolation, it will be the second coach, Nelson Vivas, who will direct the training sessions.

After canceling the concentration in Los Angeles de San Rafael, Atlético has also had to give up the Carranza Tournament that was scheduled for this Tuesday against Cádiz.

The Cádiz club, which fell to Osasuna this Saturday on its return to First Division, has chosen to postpone the match rather than look for another rival in such a short time.

Atlético is one of the teams that has suffered the most cases of covid among its ranks.

The first was from Renan Lodi before the squad concentrated to prepare for La Liga's resumption after the break.

In the same tests in which the infection of the Brazilian full-back was detected, antibodies were found in eight other members of the squad who had already had the disease asymptomatically.

Sime Vrsaljko and Ángel Correa also tested positive before the team traveled to Lisbon to play in the Champions League final phase, and they missed the European event in which Atlético fell to Leizpieg in the quarterfinals.

Last Thursday, Diego Costa and Arias were positive in the tests that were carried out before leaving for Los Angeles de San Rafael and continue to be quarantined.
