As you may recall, just two weeks ago the two met in the final of a Cincinnati tournament and the Belarusian managed to win after Osaka retired following a hip injury.
The first set, as mentioned, belonged to a Belarusian who took advantage of Osaka's 10 uncommitted mistakes and managed to break it and win easily 1: 6.
At the beginning of the second set Azarenka seemed to continue to mature when it went up to 0: 2 but from here the Japanese woke up, managed to equalize and despite another victory in Azarenka's next game, Osaka managed to win 4 games in a row on the way to 3-6 in the second set.
