Boston Celtics players celebrate qualifying for the Eastern Conference Finals (from the Boston Celtics Twitter)

The return of the Lakers.

The nearly most decorated team in NBA history returned tonight (Saturday through Sunday) to the Western Conference Finals for the first time since 2010, after defeating Houston 96: 119 and completing a 1-4 victory in the series.

The opening of the series with the Rockets' victory in the first game, turned out to be nothing more than an illusion.

Starting with the second game LeBron James, Anthony Davis and their teammates did whatever they pleased with the disappointing Houston, and tonight's game demonstrated it perfectly.

The Lakers-led LeBron smelled blood even before the opening whistle, flew to 20:35 at the end of the first quarter, and pressed the pedal once more in the third quarter to oust Houston with the humiliation.

LeBron was at his peak, as mentioned.

He finished with 29 points (9 from 18 from the field, 8 from 10 from the penalty spot) and 7 assists in 31 minutes, on his way to qualifying for the first time in his Western Conference final, the conference he claimed he could not control.

This is the 11th time in his career that King James has advanced to the conference finals, and the first since 2018 with Cleveland in the East.

In such an easy win, Anthony Davis should not have helped LeBron too much.

AP recorded a quiet game with 13 points and 11 rebounds, with all of the Lakers' top five players finishing with a double-digit number of points and Kyle Kozma serving as an X Factor off the bench with 17.

End of era in Houston?

And while the Lakers are celebrating back to center stage and waiting for a winner between the Clippers and Nuggets in the corresponding series, the Rockets may be nearing the end of an era.

The pretentious experiment of Daryl Murray and Mike D'Antoni, who took the Small Ball to an edge the NBA had not yet seen, failed, and both could pay the price.

According to reports and rumors, at least one of them will leave Houston in the summer.

James Harden, who finished with 30 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists, is also out for a summer full of question marks.

He himself has disappointed in quite a few playoff games, and Russell Westbrook, who is supposed to be the star next to him, seems very far from his peak days throughout the season, especially in the series against the Lakers.

Tonight Westbrook issued just 10 points alongside 6 assists, but his main "contribution" to the game was a trash talk that heated up with Rejon Rondo's brother sitting in the family stand.
