The athletes of TSV Penzberg win medals and titles more often.

Nevertheless, every now and then a surprise succeeds - Michaela Kölbl managed one on the hurdles course.

Penzberg / Erding - The fact that TSV Penzberg athletes win medals at Bavarian championships is nothing unusual in itself.

And yet club members provide surprises here and there.

Michaela Kölbl managed one of them.

In Erding, the 19-year-old from Sindelsdorf won gold over the 400 meter hurdles in a true heart-stopping final in the U23.

Michaela Kölbl:

"It went really well for being my first race of the season," said Michaela Kölbl after her surprising title win over the 400 meter hurdles.

Shortly before the finish line, the 19-year-old student teacher had overtaken Laura Böttcher (MTV 1881 Ingolstadt), who had been leading the race all along.

Kölbl, who needed 66.70 seconds for the stadium lap, was about one meter ahead in the end.

Böttcher was 16 hundredths of a second slower.

In the meantime, the TSV athlete was more than ten meters behind, but with a strong finish on the home straight, which is her trademark, she caught up with her competitor.

“It was a typical run by Michaela.

Cautious start, but a furious finish, ”said trainer Melanie Jäger.

On the second day of the competition in Erding, the woman from Sindelsdorf took fifth place over the 400 meters flat.

With a time of 62.34 seconds, the podium positions were quite a long way off.

Gold won Jana Lakner (LG Region Landshut) with 58.55 seconds ahead of Leila Kilian (LG Augsburg / 59.22) and Anna-Lena Genz (LG Bamberg / 59.95).

Raffieu Deen Johnson:

Like Michaela Kölbl, Raffieu Deen Johnson competed twice in Erding.

On the first day, however, he left the blue tartan track deeply disappointed.

Because with 11.02 seconds he had only finished second in the 100 meter final.

The 20-year-old Johnson started the race as the favorite, but fell behind as soon as the starting gun was fired.

“I totally botched the start.

And after that I ran way too cramped, ”explained Penzberg's fastest sprinter.

Victory went to Tim Wermuth from Ingolstadt, who fell below the eleven-second mark for the first time with 10.89 seconds.

On Sunday, over the 200 meters, the roles were distributed exactly the other way around.

The 20-year-old vermouth went into the final as the favorite.

But Johnson left no doubts about his good form right from the start.

The first 100 meters he ran on par with wormwood.

"On the home straight I then pulled my step longer, just like my trainer Conny had told me before the race," said the Penzberg.

With this longer, but relaxed step, he clearly set himself apart from the rest of the field and won with a personal best of 22.07 seconds ahead of Hendrik Gühlen (LG Erlangen / 22.32) and Carlos Schirmer (LG Stadtwerke München / 22.43) .

Wermuth (22.46) came fourth.

Luk Jäger:

In the last race of the two-day championship, it was Luk Jäger who caused a bang over 1500 meters.

The 18-year-old from TSV Penzberg surprised in the field of U23 runners with the silver medal and a personal best of 3: 59.92 minutes.

The Penzberger had undercut his previous record by almost five seconds.

Remarkable: Two days before Jäger had won the gold medal at the German youth championship over the 2000 meter obstacle in the U20.

Here, too, he had a personal best (5: 56.38).

In Erding he almost always competed against older athletes and only had to admit defeat to Niklas Buchholz (LSC Höchstadt / Aisch), who won with 3: 57.58 minutes.

From the beginning, the 22-year-old Buchholz and his club mate Theodor Schell ensured a high pace.

Jäger ran directly behind in the slipstream.

“I just hung in the back.

I knew that the two had planned to stay well under four minutes.

But I'm in top form, so I thought I would just risk it, ”said the Penzberger after the race.

Other TSV athletes:

TSV athlete Marvin Bertram completed the U23 1,500 meter race with Luk Jäger.

With a time of 4: 15.57 minutes, the 19-year-old finished fifth.

The Penzberger had led the second group for a long time, but had to let a runner pass in the finish.

Penzberg's youngest participant, Hannah Petsch (W14), narrowly missed the B final with 13.53 seconds over the 100 meters.

The 14-year-old had improved her best time by five hundredths.

It was four hundredths too slow to make it into the B final.

Lina Bachmann (LAG Mittlere Isar / 13.30) won the B final, Eva Schlaffer (LG Landshut / 13.08) won the A final.

Another athlete from the district also impressed at the Bavarian championship, namely Katharina Vogl from TSV Peißenberg, who won gold in the women's long jump.
