Austrian Dominic Thiem clinched his first Grand Slam tennis title by defeating German Alexander Zverev 2-6, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 7-6 in a thrilling final at the US Open.
Tim became the first men's competition player, born in the 1990s, to win a Grand Slam title and also became the first player away from the Big Three, Nadal, Djokovic and Roger Federer, to claim a major title since Stanislas Wawrinka won the 2016 US Open.
Thiem has previously lost in the last two finals of the French Open to Rafael Nadal and lost to Novak Djokovic in the final of the Australian Open this year.
