Andreas Kölbl is simply in top form.

The athlete from TSV Penzberg now proved in Ingolstadt that he can also master the "obstacle race" discipline - and immediately won a gold medal.

Penzberg - He is currently the most versatile runner at TSV Penzberg - and successful on top of that: Andreas Kölbl.

The 26-year-old from Sindelsdorf recently won the gold medal at the Upper Bavarian Championships in Ingolstadt in the sprint (400 meters, 4 x 100 meters), a middle distance (800 meters) and a hurdle distance (110 meters) (we reported).

The Bavarian obstacle championship also took place as part of the event.

There, Kölbl tried his hand at the 3000 meter obstacle for the first time and promptly won the men's title.

In a tactical race, the TSV athlete didn't give his rival Martin Stier (MTV 1880 Ingolstadt) a chance in the last 200 meters.

With a time of 10: 17.96 minutes he was almost nine seconds ahead.

Only four weeks earlier, Kölbl had decided to take part in these championships as well.

"I heard from many Bavarian obstacle runners that they would end their season after the German championships and not start at the Bavarian championships," said Kölbl.

Among them was, for example, his club mate and squad athlete Nick Jäger (best time 8: 52.97 minutes).

Since Kölbl had been toying with a start on the unfamiliar distance for a long time, "he wanted to use this unique opportunity," said TSV in a message.

TSV Penzberg: Extra training with club mate Luk Jäger

Therefore, he had prepared for four weeks, including with his club mate Luk Jäger, who two weeks ago had become German U20 youth champion over 2000 meters obstacle.

In Ingolstadt there were actually only three participants in the men's race.

Immediately after the start, the Ingolstadt bull took the lead, Kölbl usually ran five meters behind.

"I ran a few meters behind Stier so I could jump over the hurdles unhindered," he explained.

Since the pace wasn't too fast, Kölbl was able to save energy for the final chord.

He then started to overtake 500 meters from the finish, but Stier was able to follow.

But when the TSV runner got serious 200 meters from the finish line, the Ingolstadt-based man was done.

In addition to the Sindelsdorfer, Corinna Braun from TSV Penzberg was at the start of the obstacle championship.

She was only one second short of the bronze medal in the 2000 meter distance of the female U18.

According to TSV trainer Markus Brennauer, the 15-year-old from Benediktbeuern showed "a very good race".

Braun set a personal best with 7: 44.21 minutes.

“I am very happy with the time.

I ran after Marie the whole time.

When I wanted to overtake, she also accelerated, ”said Braun after the race.

By Marie she meant Marie Krebelder (LAC Quelle Fürth), who secured third place with 7: 43.26 minutes.

Braun was eleven seconds ahead of fifth, Jule Hofmockel (source Fürth).
