Everything should get better for Werder Bremen, but the start of the season against Hertha BSC went wrong. The two newcomers also remained without a win in their first games.

Werder Bremen only saved themselves through relegation last season - if you take today's game, the tremors will continue into the new season.

Werder lost 1: 4 (0: 2) to Hertha BSC at the start of the Bundesliga season and showed serious deficiencies, especially on the defensive.

The Berliners, on the other hand, made amends after the cup at Eintracht Braunschweig.

Peter Pekarik (42nd) and Dodi Lukebakio (45th) made the preliminary decision before the break.

Hertha started without Jhon Cordoba, who was signed from Cologne just days ago, but was also the more agreeable team without him.

Werder hardly scored a goal, and the 8500 spectators in the Weserstadion could not motivate their team to be more effective.

Even after the change, the picture hardly changed, with Matheus Cunha's goal to make it 3-0 after 62 minutes everything was decided.

Davie Selke's subsequent goal (71st) couldn't change that much.

Jhon Cordoba was then substituted on and hit the fourth Berliner Tor.

Promoted VfB Stuttgart started the new season with a defeat.

Against SC Freiburg it was a 2: 3 (0: 2) defeat.

Nils Petersen (8th), Roland Sallai (25th) and Vincenzo Grifo (48th) ensured a perfect start for the guests.

The hosts' race to catch up came too late

The team of coach Pellegrino Matarazzo paid early on in the game, which was followed by 8,000 spectators, against clever Freiburgers, Petersen was completely free to head in the lead, and in the 2-0 goal scorer Sallai had way too much space.

After VfB missed the great opportunity to hit the next goal immediately after the break, the Freiburg team made everything clear in return.

VfB did not give up: Sasa Kalajdzic, who had just been substituted, scored to make it 1: 3.

A short time later, Silas Wamangituka (81st) also met.

Arminia Bielefeld celebrated a decent premiere after being promoted back to the Bundesliga.

With the 1-1 draw at Eintracht Frankfurt, the East Westphalia won the first point in their first Bundesliga game after eleven years.

The guests played along from the start, the team under coach Uwe Neuhaus was hardly noticeable at the beginning.

After a balanced first half, the guests even took the lead when Cebio Soukou (51.) scored.

The joy lasted only ten minutes, however, then Andre Silva equalized to the delight of the 6500 fans.

Then Eintracht pushed for the winning goal, had several best chances, but the draw lasted until the end.

No spectators, no points: 1. FC Köln had a sobering start to the season.

Against 1899 Hoffenheim, Cologne lost a late goal 2: 3 (1: 2).

Striker Andrej Kramaric was the most important man for the guests with three goals.

Cologne's misery began after just a few minutes, when Jonas Hector played an imprecise back pass to goalkeeper Timo Horn, Kramaric intervened and only had to insert.

Even after that, the Hoffenheim team trained by Sebastian Hoeneß were the better team, but the Cologne team scored the next goal.

New signing Sebastian Andersson took advantage of the hosts' first chance to make it 1-1 when he converted a header.

Before the break, however, Cologne's hopes were dashed again because Kramaric converted a controversial penalty kick.

After two minutes of video evidence study, referee Daniel Siebert decided against all protests on the penalty kick.

After the change, FC pushed for an equalizer, Dominick Drexler rewarded the hosts five minutes before the end - then Kramaric came.

Despite the support of 4,500 spectators in the Alte Försterei, 1. FC Union Berlin lost their first game of the season against FC Augsburg 1: 3 (0: 1).

Without the new star Max Kruse, Union went into his second first division season.

The former Bremer, Gladbacher, Wolfsburg and Freiburg resident was not yet fit enough to start after an injury.

Whether it was due to his absence: in any case, a game developed with only a few high points that was largely controlled by Augsburg.

The lead by Ruben Vargas after some good preparatory work by Framberger (40th) was anything but surprising.

After an hour of play, the time had come when Kruse was substituted on.

And it only took a few minutes, then the former Union goalkeeper Gikiewicz was overcome.

Even if it wasn't Kruse, but his storm colleague Marius Bülter.

The answer came just a few minutes later.

Michael Gregoritsch restored the lead for the guests, this time that was enough. André Hahn made everything clear in the 89th minute.
