Within the initiative programs plan and based on the importance of outdoor activities, the Syrian Special Olympics Foundation established a social awareness event for its affiliated players with special needs in Al-Fayhaa Sports City, in cooperation with the General Sports Federation.
The event, which was held in a social atmosphere that brought together the players, their families and their coaches, included a targeted awareness film and performances in which the focus was on the preventive and health measures that must be followed to address the emerging corona virus.
Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Olympiad, Tarif Qoutrash, stressed in a statement to the representative of SANA Sports the importance of this event in strengthening family ties and introducing the players in a new atmosphere that takes them out of psychological pressure due to the absence of activities due to Corona, noting that despite the activities being stopped, the Olympiad supervisors were in contact with the players remotely with programs Specific goal of supporting physical and mental health indicating at the same time that this event will be generalized to the rest of the province.
National Olympic Director Talal Barnieh explained that the open-air cinema organized today is an event that the Olympiad will hold for the first time locally, during which participation has been expanded by including parents and relevant associations to shed more light on the Olympic goals, which all focus on integrating people with special needs in society.
The Director of Initiatives at the Olympiad, Saleh Saleh indicated that this event has positive repercussions on the psyche of the players because it comes as an outlet after an absence that lasted for several months from practicing their usual activities, whether they are recreational or sports.
