The remarkable negative streak from Schalke 04 continues.
The Bundesliga club lost its home game against Werder Bremen 1: 3 (0: 2) and has been waiting for a win for 18 league games.
The last time the miners won in the Bundesliga on January 17 against Mönchengladbach (2-0).
The man of the game was Werder striker Niclas Füllkrug, who scored all three goals (22nd minute, 37th, 59th / foul penalty).
Schalke's Ozan Kabak had to leave the pitch with a yellow-red (85th), Mark Uth ensured the final score (90th).
After the 0: 8 at the start of the season at Bayern, Schalke remains bottom of the table.
Bremen, on the other hand, improved to eleventh place and should be more optimistic about the future after the league start that was also botched.
After relegation was only successful in the previous season, Werder lost 4-1 to Hertha last week.
This time Werder presented itself significantly improved.
In a very competitive game, it was initially only Bremen who came to significant deals, but Josh Sargent (10th) and Ludwig Augustinsson (21st) did not hit the ball optimally.
The fact that Bremen went into the break with a sovereign lead was due to their own standards - and especially to Füllkrug.
After a corner kick, he shot a ball headed by Sargent towards the goal past keeper Ralf Fährmann (22nd).
He later scored the second Bremen goal (37th) after a free-kick from Augustinsson with a head, in both situations he was not harassed by the Schalke defense.
Schalke made a worrying impression in those first 45 minutes.
The offensive remained largely harmless, the vulnerability to standards was striking.
In addition, there was a scene after the first goal that left an ugly impression.
Defender Kabak had fouled Bremen's Augustinsson, and while he was on the ground, Kabak seemed to fix his eyes and then spit in his direction - this is what the TV pictures looked like.
The video referee seemed to have either missed the action or judged it to be an improper spitting.
In any case, the scene had no consequences.
After the break, coach David Wagner's team indicated what Schalke is capable of - in a positive sense.
Because she created a lot of pressure on the Bremen goal, within a few minutes she had several chances.
First, substitute Vedad Ibisevic headed past the goal from a few meters away (53rd).
Then Nassim Boujellab missed the long corner by centimeters (55th).
And at the next corner, Ibisevic's attempt was blocked by Füllkrug from close range.
Just when the goal seemed close, Werder decided the game.
Kabak clutched Füllkrug in the Schalke penalty area, which went to the ground and converted the penalty itself (59th).
Sargent later missed the opportunity to make the win even clearer (78th).
Kabak saw a yellow-red for a foul, and the hosts even scored the last goal, scored by Uth.
But that will not change much in the mood at FC Schalke.
That should be in the basement.
