TSG Hoffenheim caused a surprise on the second Bundesliga matchday.
Against record champions Bayern Munich, coach Sebastian Hoeneß's team won 4-1 (2-1).
In an exciting game, Ermin Bicakcic (16th minute) and Munas Dabbur (24th) gave Hoffenheim an early lead, Joshua Kimmich scored the next goal (36th).
Andrej Kramaric decided the game with two hits (77th, 90th + 2 / foul penalty).
It is the first defeat for Bayern since December 7, 2019, and they also missed a Bundesliga record: A win in Hoffenheim would have meant the eleventh away win in a row across all seasons.
No team has managed that yet.
Bayern had a hard time from the start of the game.
Without Robert Lewandowski, who, like Leon Goretzka, got a break after the Supercup win against Sevilla on Thursday, they missed an important point in the opposing penalty area.
Instead of Lewandowski, Joshua Zirkzee started, who was mainly in Bavaria's second team under the new Hoffenheim coach Hoeneß last season.
Bayern often lost the ball in the attacking third, which caused Hoffenheim to switch situations.
With passes in depth, TSG repeatedly managed to outplay Bayern's defense.
However, Hoffenheim took the lead after a standard: Bicakcic headed a Dennis Geiger corner on the first post in the direction of the far corner, while Alphonso Davies, who was protecting, unhappily steered the ball over the line during his rescue operation (16.).
Just eight minutes later, Dabbur ran alone towards the goal, right-back Benjamin Pavard had previously lost the ball.
Dabbur lifted the ball elegantly over the rushing Manuel Neuer into the goal (24th).
With 0: 2 still well served
With the interim 0: 2 Bayern were still well served: Christoph Baumgartner (31st) missed another goal from the penalty area as did Kramaric, whose shot from an acute angle directed Neuer with a reflex to the crossbar (33rd).
Only a little later, the record champions hit the next goal: After a quick change of direction by Leroy Sané in front of the penalty area, his opponent Bicakcic injured himself, Bayern played against the then unorganized Hoffenheim defense;
At the end of the attack, Kimmich flicked the ball from the left edge of the penalty area into the right angle (36th).
Even before Bayern coach Hansi Flick replaced Lewandowski and Goretzka in the second half (57th), the game could have been decided.
Within a very short time, Dabbur missed another hit twice: First he failed with a central direct acceptance to Neuer (50th), then he released the ball in front of the goal on the right (51st).
But Bayern also had a chance to equalize: Zirkzee shot the crossbar from close range (56th).
But Lewandowski's inclusion did not make Bayern any more dangerous.
Instead, Robert Skov on the other side missed the preliminary decision against a foot defense by Neuer (75th), before Kramaric didn't give the German goalkeeper a chance from the spin (77th).
In stoppage time, Neuer caused a penalty against Ihlas Bebou, Kramaric scored for the final score (90 + 2).
For Bayern it is the biggest defeat since the tenth match day of the previous season: At that time the record champions lost 1: 5 in Frankfurt, after which coach Niko Kovac was released and Flick took over.
