To call this debut "successful" would be an understatement: At his premiere in the Atlético jersey, ex-Barcelona star Luis Suárez showed that he is still a top-class striker.

Luis Suárez celebrated a spectacular premiere for the Spanish top soccer club Atlético Madrid.

The team of coach Diego Simeone won in the Primera División against Granada CF 6-1 (1-0).

Suárez came on in the 70th minute and then scored twice (85th minute, 90th + 4);

he put on another hit.

The 33-year-old, who came to the Madrid from championship rivals FC Barcelona only three days ago, first prepared Marcos Llorente's 4-0 (73rd) after being substituted on.

Shortly before the end, the Uruguayan then headed and left-footed for the final score.

Diego Costa initially put his team in the lead (9th), and Ángel Correa (47th) and João Felix (65th) added their names to the list of goalscorers.

Jorge Molina scored for Granada (87th).

Another Suarez goal almost came, as Suarez had meanwhile been at the penalty spot, ready to take a penalty.

However, according to the video images, the referee took it back because there had been no foul - the allegedly fouled player was Suárez himself.

Suarez sorted out in Barcelona

Atlético only started the league on Sunday due to the Champions League final tournament in August, in which the team failed in the quarter-finals at Leipzig.

In the evening (9 p.m.; Stream: DAZN) the first appearance of FC Barcelona without scorer Suárez at FC Villarreal follows.

The transfer from Suarez hadn't been very quiet.

The star striker, the third most successful goalscorer in Barcelona's club history, had been sorted out by new coach Ronald Koeman.

Superstar Lionel Messi recently publicly complained about the nature of the parting.

"You deserved to be adopted for who you are: one of the most important players in the club's history," wrote Messi in an Instagram post, adding: "And not to be kicked out like they did."

Messi and Suárez are considered good friends.

Suarez himself had also caused a stir.

The 33-year-old had dealt with Juventus, but a transfer to Turin then failed - a language test is said to have played a role in which Suárez is said to have cheated.
