VfB Hallbergmoos: After the 3: 2 (2: 1) mandatory win against TuS Holzkirchen, Gedi Sugzda’s national league group is back in the race for first place in the table
Hallbergmoos - This time it was not against the first in the sunshine, but against one of the relegation candidates on a dreary and rainy evening.
And that apparently played a part in people's heads, because the VfB kickers looked insecure and nervous even after Simon Werner (6th) scored an early opening goal.
The Hallbergmooser made little of the spaces that opened up on the offensive and literally built up the opponent with too many mistakes without need.
However, it seemed as if Holzkirchen could play for hours without really being able to develop a goal threat.
Instead of a decisive 3-0 for VfB, TuS comes out of nowhere to the connecting gate
Shortly before half-time, VfB tightened the reins a little - and as soon as the attacks were carried out in a structured manner, it burned immediately: Maximilian Preuhs could cross unhindered at 2-0 and head Fabian Diranko just as undisturbed.
In this phase of the game the decisive 3-0 would have been possible - but instead Holzkirchen came out of nowhere to connect: After a VfB corner and a wide goalkeeper tee, the referee only overlooked the handball when receiving the ball and Two seconds later, a penalty kick whistled, which made the moderate match exciting again.
VfB wants to hit the wall too often
After changing sides, the Hallbergmoosers stayed active and tried to make a preliminary decision.
However, the team kept dribbling itself on the offensive and often wanted too much with their heads through the wall.
That brought in a hand penalty, which was more than overdue as a concession whistle after the wrong decision before the 2: 1.
Andreas Kostorz converted confidently (59th), but less than a minute later the renewed connection hit created unnecessary tension again.
“They don't score like that every game,” said VfB coach Gedi Sugzda.
"But we slept there too."
The victory, which brought the Hallbergers back into the championship race, was in terms of results on feet of clay, because VfB had control of the action, but no real chance of the fourth goal.
In stoppage time it actually got tight again when Holzkirchen threw everything forward, Hallbergmoos couldn't get the ball away, and two tricky scenes developed.
VfB Hallbergmoos has everything fully in hand again 180 minutes after the restart
"We were lucky in the final phase that we didn't have in Karlsfeld," said Sugzda.
On that uncomfortable Friday evening he had no idea that Karlsfeld, Freising, Grünwald and Töging would lose on Saturday.
The assumption that some crazy results can be expected after the restart has already been confirmed.
And VfB has everything under control again 180 minutes after the restart.
