In two days, Tottenham will meet Maccabi Haifa for a game in which victory is worth a place in the home stage of the Europa League.
Jose Mourinho has decided to keep forces ahead of the game, and in the eighth round of the League Cup final against Chelsea tonight (Tuesday) he chose to let Harry Kane and Lucas Morea open on the bench.
The Blues took the opportunity and a goal by Timo Werner in the 19th minute gave them the lead.
Later, Mourinho put in Kane (70) and Mura (76) but it was actually Eric Lamela who found the net in the 83rd minute from Sergio Regilon's shot, and sent the decision to a penalty shootout.
The first nine kickers from both teams had no trouble subduing the goalkeepers, until Mason Mount arrived and missed the tenth kick.

In Spain, Valencia beat Real Sociedad 0-1 from a goal by Maximiliano Gomes (75).
