The NBA Finals are upon us, and although the vast majority of predictions predict a championship for LeBron James and the Lakers, Miami does not feel like it is coming to the series in an inferior position.
"We are not an underdog," Jimmy Butler declared tonight (Tuesday) ahead of Game 1 of the series to be held on the night between Wednesday and Thursday at 4:00 p.m.
"Ultimately, we get to this series and we'll have to play our basketball, the Miami basketball. It worked all season, there's no reason it won't work this time as well."
Butler, who was mentioned as a candidate to join LeBron James in the summer of 2019 before signing for Miami, claims that "facing LeBron is going to be no easy task. But if there is anyone who is ready for that task, it is Miami."
Butler complimented LeBron, saying: "He's still at his peak, no matter if he's 35, 26 or 21. He's still dominant. To win the championship you had to go through him both when he was 26 and when he was 35. Apparently even when he was 49, who "Whoever wants to take a championship will have to go through it. He showed why he is the best player in the world, why he had such a tremendous career. He proved that his legacy continues to be written in 2020 as well."

An underdog?
Depends on who you ask.

Quite a few spotlights will be directed in the final to Miami coach Eric Spolstra, who is remembered as someone who was not received with much sympathy by LeBron James at the start of his hit season.
Spolstra eventually stayed in Miami despite his lack of affection from James, won two championships with him and over the years became one of the most respected coaches in the NBA.
Spolstra said that "after LeBron left Miami in 2014, I had to take more than a month to recover. I wondered if we would run for the championship again. I'm glad it happened in the end."
Spolstra received compliments from Goran Dragic who said: "Eric is one of the smartest coaches in the league. He knows what the team needs, knows where to put the ball, he is always there for the players. He instills confidence in all of us."
