Burgstaller is moving from Gelsenkirchen to Hamburg

Second division soccer club FC St. Pauli has signed striker Guido Burgstaller from FC Schalke 04.

The Austrian will receive a contract until June 30, 2023, announced the Hamburg club.

The 31-year-old should train with his new team for the first time on Wednesday.

"Things didn't go well for him at Schalke in the end, but he has proven often enough that he knows where the goal is," St. Pauli head coach Timo Schultz is quoted as saying in a statement.

"It has always been important to me in my career to play for clubs with a certain tradition," said Burgstaller.

The Austrian national player still had a contract with Schalke until June 2022. Burgstaller no longer played a role in the plans of the Bundesliga bottom.

The separation of the club from coach David Wagner didn't change that.

It would not be the first change in personnel in Gelsenkirchen on Wednesday: According to media reports, Manuel Baum is the new head coach.

Bayer Leverkusen lends Joel Pohjanpalo to Union Berlin

Joel Pohjanpalo is awarded again by Bayer Leverkusen and joins 1. FC Union Berlin.

Both clubs announced this.

According to this, the 26-year-old Finn, who still has a contract in Leverkusen until June 30, 2022, should play with the previous year's climber until the end of the current season.

In addition, the Berliners secured a purchase option.

The striker was last loaned to Hamburger SV by Bayer for six months.

There he scored nine goals in 14 second division games.

"After six months at HSV, it is important for me to continue to have the chance to prove myself at the highest level and to confirm my performance," said Pohjanpalo in a union statement.

The Köpenicker have thus clarified an important person for the offensive.

"He fits perfectly into our requirement profile, is physically robust and has proven his nose for goals in the past," said Union manager Oliver Ruhnert.

HSV sign central defenders from the regional division Carl Zeiss Jena

Second division soccer club Hamburger SV has signed defender Maximilian Rohr.

The 25-year-old comes from the northeast regional division FC Carl Zeiss Jena and signed a contract on Tuesday until June 30, 2022.

As the HSV announced, Rohr will initially be used for the Hanseatic regional league team.

After Toni Leistner and Moritz Hayer, HSV has signed Rohr, the third inside defender, in this transfer summer.

According to information from "Bild", pipe should have been changed for 200,000 euros instead of the transfer fee of 450,000 euros required by Jena.

"The negotiations dragged on a bit, also because several clubs had shown interest in Maximilian Rohr," said FCC managing director Chris Förster in a message.
