According to information from the ARD “Sportschau” and “Bild”, Manuel Baum will be the new coach at the Bundesliga club FC Schalke 04.

The previous DFB junior coach should be officially announced on Wednesday as the successor to David Wagner, both media reported.

The association has not yet confirmed the personnel.

The Revierclub parted ways with Wagner on Sunday after 18 consecutive games without a win across the seasons.

On Saturday, the bottom of the table plays at RB Leipzig (6.30 p.m., live ticker SPIEGEL.de, TV: Sky).

Baum currently trains the U18 national team.

Between December 2016 and April 2019 he was head coach of FC Augsburg.

Schalke had already announced when Wagner was released that he would like to inform about the successor in the coming days.

Most recently, Ralf Rangnick, Sandro Schwarz, Marc Wilmots and Dimitrios Grammozis were also traded as possible candidates.
