Simona Halep beat her Romanian woman, Erinacamellia Peugeot, 6-3 6-4 today in the second round of the French Open, Roland Garros, extending the number of her consecutive victories to 16 games.
Halep won all seven of her previous encounters with her opponent, ranked 73, and quickly advanced 3-0 at Suzanne Lengelen Stadium, but Peugeot responded by breaking Halep's serve before the 2018 champion broke her opponent's service again in the eighth game and kept her serve to win the first set.
Peugeot hit seven more successful hits than Halep, but made 15 more easy fouls than her opponent, who decided the second set and the match in her favor.
With this victory, Halep is set in the third round with the rising American Amanda Anisimova, who earlier ousted her compatriot Bernarda Pera.
