The General Sports Federation, in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Lattakia Governorate, will hold the October Pathway Race on the fourth of next month, with wide participation from local, Arab and international teams.

The Secretary of the Cycling Union, Faisal Al-Kafri, explained in a statement to SANA that this race is the first of its kind and is divided into three stages. The first will be held on the fourth of next month for a distance of 48 km, and its course will start from the village of Dalia in the countryside of Lattakia, passing through the forests of Slanfeh, to the tomb of the founding leader Hafez al-Assad. In Qardaha, while the second stage is for a distance of 32 km from Qardaha to Slanfeh, while the third stage is a race within a 1 km track, and the number of laps varies according to age groups for veterans, men, youth, juniors and women.

Al-Kafri revealed that there is good participation from ancient teams from several countries that are distinguished by this sport, including Russia, Tatarstan, Tunisia, Lebanon and Palestine, in addition to local teams from all provinces, pointing out that there are many countries that welcomed the participation, but the Corona pandemic and travel procedures at airports prevented this.

Al-Kafri stressed that the aim of this race, which is held on the occasion of the anniversary of the October Liberation War, is to prove that Syria has returned as it was more glamorous in all its sports by hosting and organizing the large and distinctive tournaments, noting that our teams in all its categories started since last year to participate in the Arab Federation Games competitions.
