Simultaneously with the draw for the home stage of the 2020/21 season in the Champions League, the UEFA Awards of the Year ceremony took place tonight (Thursday), with the highlight being Robert Lewandowski's winning the Champions League player of the season title.
The Polish champions' European striker, who led Bayern Munich to the coveted title with 15 goals in just 10 appearances, managed to concede 55 times in 47 games in all competitions last season.
Lewandowski received 477 votes when in second place came Kevin de Bruyne from Manchester City with 90 votes, Manuel Neuer with 66 votes was elected third.
His teammate, Manuel Neuer, also got a lot of reasons to smile after being named the Outstanding Goalkeeper in the Champions League with 376 votes.
Jan Obelek of Atletico Madrid in second place with 92 votes and Kaylor Navas of Paris Saint-Germain with 89.
Kevin de Bruyne (Manchester City) won the prestigious title of contact of the season when Yuzua Kimisch (Bayern Munich) received the most votes and the title of defender of the season.
Hanzi Flick, who led Bayern Munich to the coveted title, won the title of coach of the season and completed a magical evening for the Bavarians.
