The Bayern league ice hockey team has officially started the season.
In terms of sport, however, the start for EA Schongau was less positive.
At the EHC Waldkraiburg, the "Mammoths" lost 3: 7 on Saturday evening.
"After a spectacular first third of the EAS, Waldkraiburg has more stamina and deserves to win the opening game of the 2020/21 Bayern league season." This is how the Schongau team sums up the first game of the season on social media.
The beginning of the game was not very spectacular.
Both teams groped each other for minutes.
It takes more than twelve minutes until the first hit.
With his back to the goal, Christof Hradek (13th) fakes the puck to guide the hosts.
Waldkraiburg turns the game
Then the lively scoring starts, in which the "mammoths" also take part.
First Matthias Müller (14th) manages the 1-1 equalizer, then newcomer Roman Tomanek (18th) even shoots the EAS in the lead.
But that's not all.
Two more goals are scored in the last minute of the first period.
The 2: 2 by Josef Straka (20th) follows Schongau's renewed opening goal by Jakub Muzik (20th).
In the second part of the game things are noticeably quieter.
After the new equalization by Michail Guft-Sokolov (23rd), nothing happened in front of the gates for a long time.
Instead, the penalty minutes are increasing.
Schongau conceded the 3: 4 through Tomas Rousek (37th).
In the final third, the "mammoths" can no longer turn the game.
Instead, the "lions" increase through Straka, Guft-Sokolov and Thomas Rott to the 7: 3 final score and make the EHC the first championship leader of the season.
