Covid-19: Cristiano Ronaldo will be reported for breaking isolation

Cristiano Ronaldo and a handful of international Juventus who left Turin earlier this week to join their selection, despite the isolation procedure in force after two cases of Covid-19, will be reported to justice, authorities said on Wednesday local sanitary facilities.

The other Juve players, who were all still in isolation in the club hotel, were allowed Wednesday evening to continue this surveillance procedure at their home, "after the checks provided for by the health protocol" in force, announced the bianconero club.

The internationals summoned with their country can now join their selection, while also continuing surveillance measures, such as the French Adrien Rabiot, the Italians Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci, the Welsh Aaron Ramsey or the Pole Wojciech Szczesny.

Cristiano Ronaldo and several South American internationals - Paulo Dybala, Juan Cuadrado, Rodrigo Bentancur and Danilo - had not waited for this green light to join their selection: they had decided to leave the hotel at the beginning of the week, without waiting for the ultimate tests, Italian media reported.

"The club itself has reported that some players had left the place of isolation and therefore we will inform the competent authority, that is to say the prosecution, of what happened", warned Roberto Testi , an official of the local health authority, quoted Wednesday by the Italian agency Ansa.

It was a personal choice, ”explained Danilo, in a press videoconference, from the Seleçao training center in Teresopolis, near Rio de Janeiro.

Players and management of the Bianconeri had been placed in isolation since Saturday, a procedure that does not prevent them from training or playing but prohibits contact with the outside.

The cases of Covid-19 recorded within the club do not concern players or members of the technical and medical staff, the club said.

Players in isolation at home will be able to continue to go to the training center, under the protocol in force, according to Juve.

Italian football was brutally overtaken by the coronavirus pandemic last week with clustered cases at Genoa, whose scheduled match against Torino last Saturday was postponed to November 4, and by the 'ghost match' case Juventus- Naples Sunday night: the Neapolitans, in isolation on instruction from local health authorities, did not make the trip to Turin, a package that could earn them a 3-0 defeat on the green carpet.
