Nico Hülkenberg is making his new comeback in Formula 1 at the Nürburgring. The 33-year-old German replaces the Canadian Lance Stroll at Racing Point.
The 21-year-old had canceled before the final training for the Grand Prix of the Eifel on Saturday because of malaise.
Racing Point confirmed that Hulkenberg will start in both the qualification and the Grand Prix.
The German is "familiar with the car and the team," and luckily he was also in Cologne.
The Nürburgring is just over an hour's drive from the city.
According to Racing Point, Stroll was "not feeling 100 percent well" and will no longer be used for the rest of the weekend.
The future Aston Martin team did not provide any information about the type and severity of his illness.
Team boss Oliver spoke to Sky about a suspected "stomach upset", Stroll's last corona test was negative.
Before his use in the qualification (3 p.m., TV: RTL, Sky), Hülkenberg hastily completed the obligatory corona test, which was negative as required by the regulations, and then got the green light for the traditional course in the Eifel.
In addition to Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel, there is another German driver on board.
Mick Schumacher's training debut in the motorsport premier class failed on Friday due to the weather.
After three years at Renault, Hülkenberg had not got a cockpit in the premier class of motorsport at the end of last season.
In the summer he made his first comeback at Racing Point, for whose predecessor team Force India (2011, 2012, 2014-2016) he had previously driven.
After Sergio Perez's corona infection, he stood in for the Mexican.
This was canceled for both Grand Prix in England.
