NFL quarterback Dak Prescott has sustained a serious injury.
In the game against the Detroit Lions, the star of the Dallas Cowboys was so badly knocked to the ground by his opponent that he suffered a complicated fracture in his ankle.
This was announced by his team.
After treatments on the square, he was driven to the catacombs in tears.
The injury overshadowed the Cowboys' only second win of the season, they beat the New York Giants 37:34 (24:20).
The team wants to go to the playoffs with new coach Mike McCarthy, Prescott played a central role in the planning.
The start of the season before, however, already went wrong: After defeats against the Cleveland Browns, Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams, the team was already under pressure.

After all, with Andy Dalton, the Cowboys signed a potential starter quarterback before the season to replace Prescott.
The 32-year-old had to give way to the Cincinnati Bengals for Joe Burrow, who was drafted at number one.
With 111 yards and nine of eleven passes, Dalton performed well.
Prescott will be difficult to replace, however: With 1,856 yards thrown in just five games, he leads the NFL quarterbacks statistics and is more than 300 yards ahead of superstars Russell Wilson (Seattle Seahawks) and Patrick Mahomes (Kansas City Chiefs).
The Cowboys wanted to extend long-term with their 27-year-old quarterback ahead of the season, but the two parties couldn't come to an agreement.
Before the season started, Prescott signed a one-year contract for more than $ 30 million;
negotiations for a long-term contract were to be continued later.
The injury could now have an impact on that.
Smith is making a comeback
Washington Football Team quarterback Alex Smith made his comeback after a serious injury.
In the 10:30 (10:20) loss to the Los Angeles Rams, Smith replaced the ailing Kyle Allen 693 days after a broken leg.
After his injury, Smith had developed complications, at times his life was in danger and he was in danger of losing his leg.
It was only announced in July that Smith could play football again.
Smith was not spared against the Rams, on the contrary: In his comeback game, the 36-year-old had to face Aaron Donald, one of the best defensive players in NFL history.
Smith was slumped six times, that is, knocked to the ground before being thrown.
He sustained the injury through such an action.
The large number of sacks is actually a bad sign, especially for the Washington offensive line.
Coach Ron Rivera was relieved: "It was good to see, if I'm honest. Now we know that he can handle it," said Rivera, according to NBC.
"That was the only thing we couldn't see in training - whether he could take hits like that or not."
