In the 49ers, quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo returned from an ankle injury. After a poor performance, he was pulled back from the field after only two quarters. The Atlanta Falcons parted ways with their trainer.

The San Francisco 49ers are going through a rough patch in the NFL right now.

After losing the Super Bowl in February against the Kansas City Chiefs, the team suffered from serious injury concerns at the start of the season.

Although most of the regulars returned for the game against the Miami Dolphins, it went bankrupt at 17:43 (7:30).

It is the third defeat for the 49ers in five games of the season.

Sunday evening was particularly bitter for quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

More than every second pass attempt by the 28-year-old in the first half did not arrive, two even ended up with the opponent.

At halftime, 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan reacted and put Garoppolo on the bench.

Backup quarterback CJ Beathard could not prevent the defeat either.

For Garoppolo it was the first game after an ankle injury.

Changes within a game are extremely unusual in the quarterback position.

The replacement of a quarterback is comparable to that of a goalkeeper in football and is usually only due to injury.

In fact, Garoppolo didn't seem quite fit: "When you see how he played, you can tell that his ankle has affected him," Shanahan said.

Garoppolo has not been undisputed in the past either: The 49ers offensive lives from its running game, although the team made it into the Super Bowl in the preseason, it had at most average passing statistics.

Kansas City loses, Atlanta dismisses coaches

Defending champion Kansas City, who won the Super Bowl against the 49ers, surprisingly lost.

Against the Las Vegas Raiders, the Chiefs lost 32:40 (24:24).

Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes threw a touchdown at 340 yards.

It is the Chiefs' first loss of the season, having won four times before.

The defense was particularly vulnerable: the Raiders only scored 21 points in the second quarter.

Mahomes made the decision in the last quarter with an interception.

The Atlanta Falcons parted ways after their fifth consecutive defeat by coach Dan Quinn and manager Thomas Dimitroff.

The Falcons announced on Sunday evening a few hours after the 16:23 (20: 7) defeat against the Carolina Panthers.

Quinn has been in charge of the Falcons since 2015 and is the second coach of the season to be relieved of his duties.

Most recently, the Houston Texans had separated from Bill O'Brien.

Seahawks and Steelers remain undefeated

The Seattle Seahawks, however, remain undefeated: Quarterback Russell Wilson threw the decisive touchdown to 27:26 (0:13) against the Minnesota Vikings 15 seconds before the end of the game.

The Seahawks are the only team with five wins after five games.

Due to numerous corona cases with several teams, eight matches in the NFL have now been postponed.

The Pittsburgh Steelers also took their fourth win in their fourth game.

At 38:29 (17:14) against the Philadelphia Eagles, wide receiver Chase Claypool towered.

The rookie scored a total of four touchdowns, no Steelers pro in 52 years.

The 22-year-old celebrated his performance on Twitter with a picture of Tom Brady from the previous week, whose face he replaced with his own.

Brady caused a curious scene on Sunday when he missed a pass on the last move of the game and showed four fingers.

Apparently he didn't know it was the fourth attempt.
