Santos' decision to sign Robinho caused a stir and great criticism after the Brazilian was charged in 2017.
Today (Saturday) less than a week after he was signed, Robinho was released from the team following the pressures and mainly following the decision of the main sponsor to cancel his sponsorship due to this signing.
A statement issued by the club on Twitter read: "Santos and Robinho have agreed to release the contract signed on October 10 so that the player can concentrate on the fight for his defense in the Italian court."

Robinho, 36, began his career at Santos before embarking on a long European career that included Real Madrid, Manchester City and AC Milan.
He signed a short-term contract last week and hoped to retire on a team where he is big, but the pressure from fans and sponsors has overwhelmed.
Robinho was charged with rape in 2017 in Italy and sentenced to nine years in prison.
He appealed the sentence and the appeal is still open but Santos decided not to wait.
In a message posted on his Instagram page, Robinho wrote: "To the people who love me and the Santos fans, I intend to prove my innocence to you."
