- There was great joy and relief at the Black Bears Freising after their 3-1 win on Sunday against VER Selb.

Because after the 0: 5 clap in Selb on Friday evening, the pressure on the national league club from the cathedral city was enormous.

The pressure quickly increased, because after seven minutes, Eric Neumann marked the opening goal for the Franks.

“No, not again,” thought Freising's trainer Michael Schneidawind.

But shortly afterwards it was clear to him that this time it would be different and that his team had just stumbled.

That's how it turned out.

SEF contingent player Nolan Regan broke the goal ban in the 13th minute and scored the Bears' first goal of the season.

But it was a hard-earned box: Sebastian Kröger had shot and Regan pushed the rebounding puck over the line.

“I was just happy that, unlike in Selb, we continued our plan in the second third.

We kept it simple, stayed patient - and that paid off. "

Similar to the first goal in Freising, there was a lot of activity in front of the Selber goal in the 39th minute.

Manuel Kühnl fired a shot that had not yet found its way into the goal.

Anton Münzhuber reacted quickly to exploit the rebound to make it 2-1.

Schneidawind: "That was hard work, but the victory for us was deserved."

After the third break, Selb didn't give up and pushed for a new equalizer.

But the hosts remained focused in their defensive actions - and what came on goal, Manuel Hanisch defused.

A nice individual action by Christian Semmler then brought the 3: 1 (48th).

The Bears striker powerfully shook off two defenders, headed for keeper Radek Uhrin alone and kept his nerve.

"The third goal calmed down, although two goals difference in ice hockey are always deceptive," said coach Schneidawind, describing his emotional state.

“The opponent fought to the end and we had to throw everything in.

That was hard work, but the win for us was deserved. "
