For ex-national player Mesut Özil there seems to be no going back to the Arsenal squad: As the Premier League entry lists show, the Gunners decided not to nominate the 2014 world champion.
The clubs had to report their 25-man squad to the association by Tuesday afternoon.
According to the rules, the clubs are allowed to register a maximum of 17 players who are not from England and are over 21 years old.
Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta has 19 players to choose from.
In addition to Özil, the former Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos is also affected.
The two had not been nominated for the Europa League squad a few weeks ago.
Özil has not played a role since the beginning of March, the 32-year-old was last in the squad at the end of June.
The relationship between Arsenal and him is considered tense.
The Londoners would like to give up Özil, who is supposed to earn around 350,000 pounds a week as a top earner.
But Özil wants to fulfill his contract by summer 2021 and has ruled out an early change.
