FC Barcelona extend four regular players

In the wake of his great victory against Ferencvaros in the Champions League (5-1), FC Barcelona announced that it had renewed the lease of four players, and not the least.

Iconic center-back Gerard Pique (33) has extended his two-year contract, finding himself tied to the club until 2024. His partner in the hinge, Frenchman Clément Lenglet (25), has extended for three seasons, until 2026, and now benefits from a release clause of € 300 million.

Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong (23) is also committed until 2026, with a clause set at € 400 million.

Finally, German goalkeeper Marc-André Ter Stegen (28) signed a new lease until 2025. His release clause is the highest of the lot, reaching € 500 million.

Barça specifies that these players have accepted a temporary drop in their salaries due to the crisis linked to the Covid-19 pandemic, a hot topic in Catalonia in recent months.

Saint-Étienne: Boudebouz to Qatar

According to

L'Équipe

, Ryad Boudebouz took a plane this Tuesday for Doha, due to advanced negotiations with the Qatar Sports Club.

The attacking midfielder of AS Saint-Étienne does not appear in Claude Puel's plans.

The club would have offered him to divide his salary by two to stay, he who receives nearly 200,000 gross per month, but Boudebouz (30 years) would have refused.

The transfer window does not close its doors until October 25 in Qatar, which leaves ASSE a few more days to negotiate the departure, either on loan or in dry transfer, of a player under contract until June 2022.

Tottenham's priority?

Extend Heung-min Son

With 11 goals and 10 assists in the Premier League last season, and already 7 goals and 2 assists in 5 matches this season, Heung-min Son is a hit at Tottenham.

According to the

Daily Mail

, the extension of the South Korean striker's contract is the priority of his leaders.

Son (28) is linked to Spurs until 2023, and he should benefit from a salary increase in the event of a new lease, which currently receives nearly € 8 million annually.

Southampton close to shield Danny Ings

His 22 league goals last season got everyone to agree: Danny Ings is a great Premier League striker.

The England international (28) is already 4 goals in 5 matches this season, and Southampton wants to scare away any potential suitors.

The Athletic

reports that the Saints are making good progress in order to extend the contract of Ings, currently linked to the club until 2022.

When Di Maria almost played in ... Cologne

Before becoming a star at Real Madrid, Angel Di Maria revealed himself at Benfica, his first club in Europe.

But coach Christoph Daum, who officiated in Cologne in 2007, reveals that FC Cologne had set their sights on the Argentine winger who was only 18 at the time.

In comments relayed by the

Deutsche Presse-Agentur

, Daum remembers that the agent of the future PSG player had refused the transfer because Cologne was then playing in German D2.

“I can't do that if he finds himself playing in the German second division two years in a row,” Daum would have been told.

Di Maria eventually left Rosario for Benfica, where he remained for three years before signing for Real Madrid, in 2010.
