When Maccabi Tel Aviv and Hapoel Beer Sheva open their appearances tomorrow (Thursday) in the home stage of the Europa League, it is likely that Vidar Kjartansson and Tomasz Peckhart will get a little pinch in the heart.

Although the two strikers will not take part in the home stage of a European factory this season, they have been proving in recent weeks that they could have helped their former teams greatly at these levels.

The 31-year-old Pekhart, who wore the Hapoel Beer Sheva uniform in the 2017/18 season and left no special mark despite scoring 10 goals, has become one of the best strikers in the Polish league in the past year, opening the current season with a storm with Legia Warsaw.

While his team is limping and ranked only eighth in the table, his personal tally stands at six goals in five games.

Pekhart is responsible for 90 percent of Legia's goals this season, and his impressive ability does not go unnoticed by Czech national team coach Jaroslav Shilhavi, who is considering returning him to the national team for the first time since 2013.

"In recent weeks we have been following Pekhart closely. Will be part of the squad for our games in November, "Shilhavi said this week.

The Czech Republic will play three games in November: it will host Germany in a warm-up game on the 11th of the month and then play in the League of Nations against Israel (home game on the 15th of the month) and against Slovakia (three days later).

Peckhart's chances of joining the squad, especially against the background of the Corona's spread in the team, seem high.

Just as Hapoel Beer Sheva would have been happy to have Tomasz Pekhart in his current form, there is no doubt that Maccabi Tel Aviv would have welcomed Vidar Kjartansson with open arms.

The Icelandic striker, who played in Israel from 2016 to 2018 and scored a total of 32 goals in the yellow uniform, is returning to himself in recent weeks after a difficult period.

The 30-year-old Kjartansson, who since signing for Rostov in the summer of 2018 has been loaned out to three different teams and has not found his place, returned this summer to the Norwegian Valaranga where he already played in 2014, and seems to feel at home.

Like Peckhart, Kiertenson also stands on a balance of six conquests in five games.

Last Sunday he scored a double in a 0-3 win over Sandfjord, helping his team climb to fourth place in the Norwegian league.

He hopes to recover his achievements from the 2014/15 season in which he wore the team uniform, finishing as the top scorer of the Norwegian league with 25 conquests.

In the meantime, he is not at a bad pace at all, and that is even after he missed twice from the penalty spot.

"Vidar Kjartansson is a real goalie. I'm glad he's slowly showing it back to us," his coach said this week.

Since leaving Maccabi Tel Aviv, the Yellows have not yet found a striker approaching Kiertenson's level.

Tomorrow against Karbah, it is possible that the newcomer Alexander Peshich will start to prove that he is like that.
