Hamburger SV has also won the fourth game of the season in the second Bundesliga and is now at the top of the table with twelve points.
In the catch-up duel against Erzgebirge Aue, HSV prevailed 3-0 (1-0).
Manuel Wintzheimer scored the leading goal in front of 1000 spectators in Hamburg's Volksparkstadion (17th minute), Sonny Kittel increased in the 57th minute and Khaled Narey made the final score (72nd).
Aue, third in the table, is already five points behind HSV.
Holstein Kiel is second (ten points).
Because of several Covid 19 infections at the club from the Erzgebirge, the game had to be canceled at the beginning of October.
Hamburg's new goalkeeper Sven Ulreich, who came from Bayern, remained without conceding a goal in the second outing.
However, Wintzheimer was more noticeable, who initially met for the lead after a nice combination over several stations and prevailed against several Auer players at the second goal in Hamburg and played for Kittel.
At 3-0, Wintzheimer was not involved: After a free kick by Aaron Hunt on the right post, Narey dusted off from close range.
It was the clearest victory so far under Hamburg's new coach Daniel Thioune, whose debut in the opening round of the DFB Cup ended disastrously - HSV lost 4-1 at third division Dynamo Dresden.
A few weeks later, HSV is celebrating its best start to the season in its third year in the second division.
HSV will continue with two home games: On the next match day, the club will host the bottom of the table from Würzburg, followed by a Hamburg city duel against FC St. Pauli (October 30).
Aue has to go to VfL in Bochum at the weekend.
