TSV Wartenberg: No more tactic discussions

After the 1: 4 defeat in Kranzberg, he talked for days with his assistant coach Andreas Bitzer about the situation, says Jakob Taffertshofer, TSV Wartenberg player-coach.

The latest balance sheet was not the reason for the resignation, says the outgoing coach.

“We performed well, especially in the test matches, which are not about the result.

If you have Bayern, state and district leagues as your opponent, you don't win that often. "

The discussions with the players about the tactical direction were more difficult.

The team favor the back four.

“But we decided on the three-way chain.

We thought it was a good formation because we have the right offensive types of players for it. ”The line-up was also criticized within the team.

"But the starting line-up has often come up by itself in the past few weeks because some players were not 100 percent fit," said Taffertshofer, who also noticed signs of fatigue in training.

Before the corona pandemic, he had 16 to 20 players from the district league squad in training.

In the end there were twelve or 13, and not all of them gave their last during sprint training.

"Automatisms crept in", says the 30-year-old, who has been active at TSV since 2017.

Five weeks ago there was a conversation between the coach and the players' council.

"The players were well aware that they had to touch their own noses," reports Taffertshofer.

“But we have already noticed that they want to defend from the head with the back four.

So we did that.

In the end, that wasn't the solution either, because we still lost. ”There have been good phases in the past games.

"Against Kirchasch we should have won clearly, then the opponent has a chance and you lose 0: 1." Most recently the 1: 4 against Kranzberg.

“We even led, and then played a desolate half.” After this home defeat, he and Andi Bitzer would have wondered.

“What are we doing here?

We've been going in circles for five weeks. ”Discussions about tactics and starting XI - a lot seemed like excuses to them.

On Monday evening - days after the resignation - the two sat again with the department management.

"Since then I have known: With our resignation we did not let the team down, we simply paved the way for new impulses."

TSV wants to take its time looking for a coach.

Captain Maxi Kronseder will lead the training units until the winter break, department head Ernst Halir will support him on the line, explains press spokesman Thomas Rademacher.

“We want to tackle the four league cup games with the necessary energy and play them successfully.

We will be discussing in December how to proceed, create a profile of a coach or player-coach and an assistant coach and then actively look for it. "

Rademacher regrets that the team and coach could not agree on the tactical direction.

“Actually, I think it wouldn't have been something that couldn't have been gotten rid of.” But they never really found each other in the conversations.

“Perhaps in the end there was a lot more talk about each other than with each other.” And actually the team is already aware “that they have the greater part in the current low”.

Rademacher highlighted what Taffertshofer and Bitzer have done for TSV.

“Maybe after four successful years it is just about time to make a change.

At least the farewell went off in such a way that it doesn't leave a negative aftertaste. ”Rademacher assumes that the Wartenberg issue is not over for the two outgoing coaches.

“Jakob lives in Wartenberg and has also trained his son in the Bambini team.

And for Andi, TSV has long since become a home club. "

Taffertshofer ruled out yesterday to immediately rejoin TSV as a player.

"That would not be good.

That would lead to false expectations. ”Now calm should return first - for him and at TSV Wartenberg.

He doesn't want to give his successor a tip.
