A professional footballer from the Bundesliga club Werder Bremen has tested positive for the corona virus.
The player, who was tested on Wednesday and is doing well according to the club on Thursday, is in quarantine at home.
"He has no symptoms," said a statement from the club.
The club did not say who it was.
For another professional and a member of the functional team, the responsible health department ordered a 14-day quarantine despite negative test results.
The other players, the coaches and the entire functional team will also voluntarily stay at home until the next test this Friday.
A regeneration training scheduled for this Thursday is canceled.
Those upcoming tests on Friday will decide whether Bremen can compete in the Bundesliga at the weekend.
Werder welcomes TSG Hoffenheim on Sunday.
The preparation for the game should be resumed "promptly" after the tests on Friday, according to the club.
Incidentally, Hoffenheim cannot compete with the best cast due to the corona virus - star striker Andrej Kramaric, among others, is currently also in quarantine.
