The 37-year-old Studmeier began his career at Phoenix, which selected him as a ninth pick in the 2002 draft. He played there for eight years and teamed up with Steve Nash after which he spent five seasons with the New York Knicks, a brief stint in Miami and three more years in Miami.
In 2019-2016 he played for Hapoel Jerusalem and also owned some of the club.
In 2019, he went on a raid on Fujian Sturgons and returned to Israel to play for Maccabi Tel Aviv, which led him to the championship last season when he excelled in the final game.
Maccabi Tel Aviv is also now worried about Studmeier's decision not to come to Israel, and will look for a solution under the baskets.
He was selected six times for the All-Star Game and in 2007 was also selected to the top five of the season in the NBA.
