Edinson Cavani didn't go far from goal for his Manchester debut

2020-10-24T18:47:51.410Z

The former PSG scorer played his first half hour of play with the Red Devils jersey on his back. He had two scoring chances.

From his first touch of the ball, Edinson Cavani did not go far from writing the first lines of his new history with Manchester United.

Entered into play against Chelsea this Saturday before the hour mark (58th) at the same time as Paul Pogba, the Uruguayan striker was able to trigger a strike in the box less than a minute later, sending the ball just next to the goal of the Blues.

Always in his particular style, with a touch of the ball, “Edi” had a second opportunity to score at the end of the game (89th) but he finally remained silent for his big debut with Manchester.

With the number 7 on the back (that of George Best, Eric Cantonna, David Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldo ...), the former PSG striker is therefore slowly starting his adventure in the Premier League.

Absent from the victorious trip of his new team to the Parc des Princes in the middle of the week, this time he was physically well prepared to help his teammates, held in check by Chelsea (0-0).

But it will take much more for Manchester United to raise the lead in the league.

With 7 points taken in five games, the Red Devils are in fifteenth place in the Premier League.

Leaving the lawn, the Uruguayan spoke at length with his former captain, Thiago Silva, who now wears the colors of Chelsea.

😫 So close to an instant impact!
