Mering / Geretsried - Finally the first league game victory: In the last state league match of the year, TuS Geretsried managed the first three since the restart.

It was 1-0 for the guests at SV Mering after 90 minutes thanks to a goal by Johannes Bahnmüller at the beginning of the second half.

“We fought for it for a long time,” summed up coach Martin Grelics with some relief.

"But we could have had it easier." After all, his eleven got into trouble at the end, although they acted with one man for half an hour more.

"We had a lot of clear chances, if you don't use them you swim in the end," admitted Grelics.

A bit of luck was therefore also necessary.

For example after half an hour, when Mering had bad luck with a crossbar.

On the other hand, the hosts could not have complained if the referee had punished Johannes Bahnmüller in the penalty area.

"That was a crystal clear penalty," said Grelics.

Apart from these two dicey situations, the coach had seen "nothing big" in the first half.

Except for a significant increase in his kickers in terms of commitment and team spirit.

That paid off shortly after the break.

Vitalij Lux had vigorously prevailed on the left side, SV goalkeeper Julian Baumann blocked his shot, but he was powerless when Bahnmüller shot up.

After an hour, Merings Patrick Szilagyi received the second yellow card within eleven minutes for a foul on Lux near the edge of the penalty area, which is why he was allowed to use the showers early.

In the period that followed, the guests had several opportunities to ensure a clearer result.

Substitute Plator Doqaj missed the greatest chance when he failed to hit the goal after being passed by Lux from close range.

Later, Jordi Woudstra and Jonas Reitel, who had also entered the final phase, failed to Baumann im Meringer Kasten - the two Geretsrieder youngsters were also staged by Lux.

"You have to take one of the many chances," said Grelics, who had to survive a few moments of shock in the second round.

So in the 75th minute, when goalkeeper Kai Fritz steered a Meringer bullet into the crossbar.

The last five minutes in particular cost nerves when Mering put everything on one card and a ball deflected by Roman Rauscheder just missed the TuS housing.

“We wanted to gain confidence, we succeeded and in the end we deserved to win,” said Grelics in a conciliatory manner.

"What we can be criticized is that we didn't make more of the rooms that we had in the majority in the second half." What the heck, in the end there is the first punk game victory in 2020. And that finally again to zero .

"That's good too," said Grelics.
