In 2000, head coach Bill Belichick took over with the New England Patriots - since then they have been the most successful team ever. It's not going well for the Patriots this season. And that's an understatement.

Historic NFL defeat for the New England Patriots: At 6:33 against the San Francisco 49ers, they not only left the field as a loser for the third time in a row, but also conceded the highest home defeat under coach Bill Belichick, who has been with the Patriots since 2000 is.

The record of 2: 4 wins is the weakest for a long time for the club, the last time he had a weaker start in Belichick's debut season 2000 (5:11).

In none of the games in the current season New England have managed more than twelve points.

The last time there was a higher defeat was 2014, when the Patriots lost 14:41 at Kansas City.

Quite a lot of pretty bad scores for a club that's one of the most successful in the NFL.

Under Belichick, the Patriots developed into a hard-to-beat team, winning the Super Bowl an unsurpassed six times, the last time in 2018 thanks to an outstanding defense.

The successes are closely linked to the head coach - and to star quarterback Tom Brady.

However, he is no longer there, he left New England before the season and moved to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after 20 years.

In the 49ers, Jeff Wilson Jr. towered over the top with three touchdowns before leaving the field with an ankle injury.

Jimmy Garoppolo, who moved to San Francisco from the Patriots in 2017, gained 277 yards of space with his passes.

He was the clear winner in the duel of the quarterbacks, because New England's Cam Newton showed a poor performance: He only brought nine of his 15 passes to his teammate, threw three interceptions and was finally replaced by Jarrett Stidham in the fourth quarter.
