Los Angeles Lakers players celebrate NBA championship (from the Lakers' Twitter account)

The crowded schedule that the NBA is planning is not to the liking of some of the top stars in the league - so claims Lakers player Danny Green.

According to the initial plan that has not yet been finally approved, the 2020/21 season will open on December 22 - just 73 days since the Lakers won the championship.

This is a very short break compared to the regular break, which is usually spread over at least 140 days.

But despite the interest of the NBA and team owners to open the season early to be able to hold as many games as possible in the regular season, the players are not aligning.

"If the season really starts in December, I think a lot of senior players who can afford it will say, 'I just do not settle down.' If the break is so short, I do not believe LeBron will get to the first month of the season."

LeBron, who last season looked like he was back at his peak, enjoyed the first full free summer after 14 years last summer, which helped him get back into shape.

The short break may impair his physical readiness, which in any case may come at a price.

"The show has to go on, but don't cry when stars decide to rest in major games. Especially when it comes to the senior teams that have had a longer season," Jared Dudley tweeted.
