Clermont's international three-quarters evokes his beginnings at the Georges-Braque college in Paris, when he was a child of the cities of the 12th

The three-quarter international center (48 selections for the French team) which plays today in Clermont, discovered rugby at the Georges-Braque college in the 13th arrondissement of Paris.

Today, at 32, the Clermontois looks back on this period which changed his life.

How did your debut go?

WESLEY FOFANA.

When I entered 6th grade, I had Serge Collinet as my main teacher and he encouraged us to join the rugby section.

I didn't know anything about it.

I used to play soccer, but I had a boyfriend who was there.

I tried it and I liked it right away.

I had a feeling of freedom on the pitch.

But I had to convince my mother that it was scary.

Every time we went to the gym, we passed the class in front of my building and Serge gave us a few minutes to go upstairs to chat with her.

He ended up winning his case.

What did you find in this sport?

It taught me the collective.

Without your boyfriend, you're dead.

There is no star, star, Messi or Ronaldo.

We do not exist without others.

And then, I learned the strength of work.

Serge was very demanding, very strict, sometimes tough, but there was a second degree in him.

She's someone you want to love.

We wanted to surpass ourselves for him.

You don't often meet people like that in a lifetime.

Does rugby have a role to play in the cities?

Yes.

And today more than ever.

It allows these young people to see something else, it gives them a goal, a future.

The more this sport becomes more democratic, the more it affects diversity, the more important it is.

Personally, I lived my best years there before joining Lakanal high school in Sceaux (Hauts-de-Seine).

It was an incredible human adventure.

Rugby changed my destiny, I owe it the life I have today.
