The Syrian men's basketball team started its outdoor training camp in the Russian city of Kazan two days ago, in preparation for the second window of the qualifying rounds for the Asian championship.
During the past two days, our team conducted a series of exercises that focused on improving the physical fitness of players, and a series of group exercises, tactics and individual skills exercises.
The camp will be held under the supervision of American coach Joseph Salerno and Canadian assistant coach Jeffrey Morsen in addition to the national coach Azzam Al Hussein, and it will last for nearly three weeks during which the national team plays a number of experimental matches to select fifteen players at the end of the first half of the camp and follow up the rest of the preparatory phase.
Our team’s mission in the camp includes the players: Rami Morjana, Anas Shaban, Majd Arbasha, Hani Dribi, Tariq Al-Jabi, Omar Sheikh Ali, Anthony Bakr, Abdel Wahab Hamwi, Ammar Al-Ghumayyan, Muhammad Hadri, Zakaria Al-Hussein, Jamil Sadir, Sharif Al-Ash, Majd Abu Aita, Georgy Nazryan, Tawfiq Saleh, Ishaq Obeid, Omar Idlbi and George Kil.
It is scheduled that our team will resume its competitions in the Asian qualifiers next month, with the Qatar team meeting in Group E, noting that it opened its qualifying campaign within the first window by losing to Iran with a score of 48-94 points, then beating its Saudi counterpart 75-70 points.
