Başakşehir-PSG: "tonight, it's only football"

2020-10-28T17:21:44.704Z

Only a handful of Turkish supporters were present in front of the stadium which will be almost empty on Wednesday evening due to the closed camera.

The PSG delegation was not hampered by the traffic jams that paralyze Istanbul all day to reach the Wyndham Hotel at the Fatih-Terim stadium in Başakşehir.

Barely a quarter of an hour was enough for the Parisians to come and play their second Champions League match thanks to a safety device still as impressive.

An hour before their arrival, dozens of police officers, helmets and equipped with gas masks had taken up positions at the main entrance to the stadium.

An armored vehicle was parked there and men with automatic weapons were on patrols.

A handful of handpicked guests

Barely ten Başakşehir supporters and a few onlookers were present.

The few restaurants and fast-food restaurants set up at the foot of the stadium were moreover full of people in the middle of a modern, soulless district surrounded by one of the countless highways of the day before.

“We are disappointed that the match is in camera, sighs Emre, orange jersey on his shoulders.

We don't often have the opportunity to see players like Kylian Mbappé or Neymar.

We will sing in front of the TV, but that will not really help our players ”.

The political tensions between France and Turkey which justify this impressive deployment of forces are not frankly in the conversations.

"Tonight, it's just football," insists a group of teenagers busy playing football while waiting for the buses to pass.

It is also without a single event that the very small audience present welcomed the arrival of the Parisian players.

Marquinhos and his teammates will not be much more disturbed by the 300 or so spectators authorized to enter the stadium.

It's a handful of handpicked guests who will settle into the boxes.

Not enough to install a very hostile atmosphere.
