The midfielder Malik Foster, who played last season for Kiryat Shmona and left at the end after the option was not exercised, was shot last night (Tuesday to Wednesday) in his native Jamaica, according to local media reports.
Foster reportedly spent time with his friends in the eastern island town of Portmore, was shot several times in the neck and arm and rushed to emergency surgery at a local hospital.
"Foster was scheduled to celebrate his 24th birthday next Tuesday," one report said.
"Instead he struggled for his life in a hospital. He just wanted to hang out with his friends. They were playing dominoes while being shot by unknown individuals."
Local police have not yet arrested suspects in the incident, as the motive for harming the actor and his friends is not yet clear.
