Horse racing: the Propulsion champion disqualified from all his races in Sweden

2020-10-29T15:23:54.228Z

This Thursday, October 29, the Swedish authorities delivered their verdict in the case of the neurectomy performed on Propulsion.

At the beginning of June, we spoke of the coach's deep sadness.

“The world has collapsed”, commented Daniel Redén a few days after the victory of his champion,

Propulsion

, in the Elitloppet following the revelation of the neurectomy (removal of a nerve) performed on his resident.

A surgical procedure legal in the United States, the horse's country of origin, but totally banned in Europe, where

Propulsion has been

running since 2015.

According to the revelations of our Norwegian colleagues from Trav Og Galopp Nytt, the said neurectomy was performed on the horse in the United States, a few months before its importation into Sweden.

Disqualification and refund

This Thursday, the Swedish authorities held a press conference between 10 am and 12 noon to deliver their verdict.

The decision was taken, unsurprisingly, to disqualify the horse from all its Swedish races (45), as well as to withdraw its stallion approval (its foals and fillies born in 2021 or before will not suffer any consequences).

Goodbye the Elitloppet, therefore, fourteen Groups I and around three million euros in earnings that its owner (Stall Zet) will have to reimburse.

A total of 134 horses that have raced against him in Sweden will benefit.

This is the case of the French

Bold Eagle

,

Timoko

and

Dijon in

particular

.

What about France?

Winner of the Prix de Bourgogne in 2017 and the Prix d'Ete two years later at Vincennes,

Propulsion

has also and above all placed three times at the finish of the Prix d'Amérique (4th in 2017, 3rd in 2018, 5th in 2019).

In thirteen races with us, he won more than 500,000 euros that his entourage could sooner or later reimburse, since each country will decide on the sanction to be applied to the trotter.

If LeTrot in turn sanctions the champion,

Bahia Quesnot would

become the winner of the Prix d'Eté 2019 (her first victory at Vincennes!) And

Bold Eagle

that of the Prix de Bourgogne 2017.
