District - There is a lot of misunderstanding among the ice hockey clubs in the district after the so-called “lockdown light” of the federal government.

This weekend it is still possible to play, as of Monday all games and training are prohibited - initially for four weeks.

Whether the season will continue for the Bayern division Dorfen and Erding as well as the district division Dorfen 1b and Gebensbach is in the stars and could have massive consequences.

Ice hockey is hardest hit by lockdown.

Football is only about the league cup, other sports such as handball, baseball or basketball have already left for the winter break.

"What was decided on Wednesday is a slap in the face of the many volunteers," complains Christian Fischer, youth director of ESV Gebensbach.

"For an amateur club that went through the first lockdown with the kids - with the effort of training in small groups, recording contact data to tracking possible infections, moving in small groups, disinfecting training equipment and cubicles - it is difficult to understand." strict adherence to hygiene concepts was said to have resulted in no contagion or spread from the clubs.

“Actually, you should try to maintain normalcy for the children for as long as possible, because it is important for the offspring to have something that they can rely on,” says Fischer.

"With a lot of effort, training concepts were set up, the game mode was also changed, just to do justice to the whole thing, then everything is questioned by politics and the performance and work of all the helpers and those responsible are ruined."

Dorfen's ice hockey department head, who is stunned, sees it similarly: "The infections do not come from sports, gastronomy or other cultural events, but from uncontrolled private parties," says Manfred Detterbeck.

"And that is exactly what is going to get worse from my point of view, because the organized events will be canceled." He was "very, very, very disappointed" with politics.

For the ESC Dorfen this means not only four weeks of no training, no games - combined with financial losses.

He also fears: “What you have worked out in summer and winter training, you will largely lose.” After all, fitness studios have also closed.

Detterbeck counts on this: "We need at least one or two weeks of training to be up to date again - this also applies to the next generation."

Detterbeck now hopes that all the helpers, fans and sponsors will stick with them, "who have gone along the way without complaint so far".

He promises: "If the season should go on - we would all be for it - then we will not defrost the ice in Dorfen: We will continue to be there, with the youngsters and the seniors."

Mitterteich, for example, has already ended the season and closed the ice rink.

"I'm afraid that one or the other municipality will close its ice rink and that one or the other club will be caught by the hall operator," says Detterbeck.

Rainier Sabus sees it a little differently.

“It was foreseeable that after the casual and sometimes unreasonable handling of the necessary measures, both in general life and in ice hockey, the number of infections would skyrocket in autumn - and we are only at the beginning of autumn, when winter will come still be a long time, ”emphasizes Erdings ice hockey department head.

"The developments in Weiden, Landshut and other locations, especially in the DNL, with positive Covid-19 cases and extensive quarantines or video publications on relevant video platforms from press conferences without the necessary distance or mouth-nose protection were already harbingers of the development . “In this respect, the TSV had already expected additional measures on the audience side.

"That they would turn out so profoundly for sport, however, surprised us."

Maintaining training in closed training groups would have been a major concern.

"First of all, we will be put back into a kind of deep sleep for the next few weeks - both in the junior and senior sector," says Sabus.

“The players have to see how they can keep fit alone.

After the pre-season was suspended due to the construction site, they had just gained a foothold playfully.

And now the lockdown. "

What the reactivation will look like after that is still in the stars.

"Especially in the youth field, this is a disaster for the training of players, where constant repetition is important," says the Erdinger ice hockey boss.

"We still hope that the lockdown actually only lasts for the announced four weeks and that we can quickly get back to training."

Will it actually continue in December?

"We will have to wait a few more weeks until concrete statements can be made here," believes Sabus.

“We cannot assume that after four weeks everything will continue 1: 1 as before the lockdown.” There must be a gentle start, and then it will simply be difficult to organize regular game operations for the remaining dates.

"Whether all of our opponents will still have venues is also questionable, since it is of course tempting for one or the other hall operator to stop operations entirely," speculates Sabus.

In Erding, the association had the commitment of the municipal utilities to initially receive the ice for the next four weeks, as it would be more time-consuming to defrost it now and then rebuild the ice.

As far as TSV Erding in particular is concerned, Sabus also sees something positive regarding the hall renovation, which is mightily behind schedule.

Four weeks can now be continued without being affected by games and training.

"After that, the kiosk, VIP and weight room, checkout and entrance area should be completed, the sound system and hopefully the fast data line set up," Sabus lists.

Then you could finally broadcast games with a limited number of spectators in the stadium with regular live streaming.

The Gebensbacher ice hockey department manager and sports director sees the situation much more pessimistic.

“I assume that we will lock up,” says Alexander Aigner.

"I think it's a bit naive to believe that it will continue in December." On the one hand, he regrets that one or the other player will quit after a long break, and on the other - and that is much worse - the youth work will be enormously affected.

Aigner's bitter conclusion: "I assume that there will be no more games and the season will fall completely flat." Then the "Lockdown Light" would have become a "Lockdown XXL".
