Liverpool FC also wins on the third day of the Champions League.

At Atalanta Bergamo, the English champions surprisingly prevailed 5-0 (2-0).

Diogo Jota was once again the man of the game: The Portuguese, signed by Wolverhampton Wanderers for the new season, scored three goals.

Jota had already been successful once in the previous three competitive games.

Atalanta had to do without DFB international Robin Gosens, who was missing with calf problems.

His teammates had big problems on the defensive right from the start, Jota shot out the break lead with a chip past the rushed goalkeeper Marco Sportiello (16th minute) and a dry finish after a long ball from Joe Gomez (33rd).

After the break, Mohamed Salah increased to 3: 0 (47th) after a run over half the place, Sadio Mané (49th) and again Jota (54th) scored the final score.

Liverpool thus remain at the top in the Champions League group D.

The run-up to Ajax Amsterdam's Champions League game at FC Midtjylland was curious: Several Dutch regulars had tested positive for the corona virus and were only allowed to travel at short notice after new, negative test results.

Dusan Tadic was among the stragglers: Ajax's captain opened Antony's goal after 48 seconds against Midtjylland, and after an indirect free kick, the Serb scored the 2-0 from five meters (13th minute).

Previously, Mikkel Andersen, the Danish goalkeeper, picked up a back pass from left-back Paulinho with his hands.

After the early 0-2 deficit, Midtjylland got better into the game, Anders Dreyer scored the next goal (18th).

It was the first goal of the Danish champions in the Champions League, who make their premier class debut this season.

With the 2-1 victory, Ajax jumps to second place in Group D.

Real Madrid won the duel of the biggest names on Tuesday evening.

At home against Inter Milan, the Madrilenians managed a 3-2 (2-1).

After an unfortunate back pass from ex-Real professional Achraf Hakimi, Karim Benzema took the lead (25th), while captain Sergio Ramos headed a corner from Toni Kroos to 2-0 (33rd).

In direct return, Lautaro Martínez scored the connection goal for Inter after Nicolò Barella had dropped with a hoe (35th).

After the break, Ivan Perisic even equalized (68th) before the interplay of two substitutes brought Real the victory: Vinícius Júnior played from the left into the center to Rodrygo, who scored the winning goal (80th).

With the win, Real improved to second place behind Borussia Mönchengladbach after just one point from the first two games in Group B.

The Bundesliga team had previously won 6-0 at Shakhtar Donetsk.
