With a win at Club Bruges, Borussia Dortmund took a big step towards the round of 16 in the Champions League.
After the lackluster work victory over St. Petersburg, BVB had a clear 3-0 (3-0) win against the outsider from Belgium.
Thorgan Hazard scored the 1-0 (14th minute), and that was particularly important for BVB - with a draw he would have been bad after this third matchday in Group F.
Erling Haaland added twice for BVB (18./32.).
Thus, the team of coach Lucien Favre in Group F overtakes the Belgian runner-up and takes over the top of the group because Lazio only played 1: 1 against Zenit.
Favre stayed with a back four after defensive boss Mats Hummels lost his thigh in the 2-0 win in Bielefeld.
With Manuel Akanji, the BVB coach was still only a trained central defender, as Dan-Axel Zagadou was injured and Emre Can was also not yet fit after his corona infection.
Despite initial coordination problems on the defensive, the favorite from Dortmund took the lead with the first conclusion.
Thomas Delaney crossed from the wing into the middle, where the Belgian Hazard finished directly with the instep.
Ex-Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet was still there, but could no longer prevent the impact (14th).
The Borussia quickly followed suit.
Axel Witsel headed the ball after a corner at Haaland, who initially failed at Mignolet from a very short distance, but made use of the margin (18th).
The German runner-up was anything but flawless, especially at the start of the game, and in a fast-paced game also made inaccuracies in the passing game.
Bruges captain Ruud Vormer got the chance to 1: 2, but keeper Roman Bürki kept Dortmund safe in the game (24th).
All the better it went offensively.
BVB cheered again after half an hour: Thomas Meunier, who played for Club Bruges between 2011 and 2016, passed the ball past the Mignolet for Haaland, who only had to hold out his foot (32nd).
After the break, the fourth in the Jupiler League remained actively active, but had no serious chances for a consolation goal.
The substitution of Charles De Ketelaere, who became a hero in the opening match in St. Petersburg (74th), did not change that.
Four wins in a row give BVB courage for the top Bundesliga game on Saturday (6.30 p.m., TV: Sky) against FC Bayern Munich - the first in the table second.
