Diego Jote goes crazy over England.
The Portuguese who arrived in the summer from Wolves scored a hat-trick against Atlanta last night (Tuesday), in a game that ended in a crushing 0: 5 of Liverpool in the Champions League.
In the English media there were those who thought that Jote's impressive performance would make Jurgen Klopp prefer him in the squad over Roberto Firmino ahead of the game against Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday, but the manager claims there is no connection between yesterday's game and the squad on Sunday.
"Good performances never give me a headache," Klopp said at the end of the game.
"It was the decision tonight, and it makes sense in light of Diego's fitness right now, and because of Atlanta's style of play and defense. It makes sense that Diego's set of abilities will help us."
The manager added: "The world sometimes goes to the negative place, as soon as someone shines we immediately talk about another player, who played something like 500 games in a row. We were not even in the Champions League with Bobby Firmino was not with us, and honestly I have to explain why he is not in the squad. He will be in the lineup and he will play.
"For a lot of people in the world, if you ask them what makes Liverpool special, they will say it's the way Bobby Firmino plays. It's important to have more than 11 players, and tonight Diego used his fitness in an outstanding way and put in a great game. But that does not mean "Nothing about Bobby, and saying nothing about causing me a headache. I'm happier than how the guys played tonight."
