Sergio Ramos, defender and captain of the Spanish national team, set a new record during his main participation against Switzerland this evening in the framework of the European Nations League competitions.
Ramos' participation marks his 177th international appearance in the Spanish national team, to become the most European player participating in international matches, according to the "Opta" network of statistics.
With this achievement, Ramos surpassed former Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon’s record of 176 games.
It is noteworthy that Ramos has participated in 129 victories for the Spanish national team and scored 23 goals throughout his international career so far.
